The Pittsburgh Project work day

Service projects are an important part of the life of Student Ministries and MPC as a whole. We are blessed to be a blessing to others. We have planned Saturdays throughout the winter to go and serve at The Pittsburgh Project doing whatever it is they need of us. MPC has been partnering in ministry with TPP for many years, and they are located on the North Side. This past Saturday over 20 students got up early, went and performed many jobs such as organizing the warehouse and all the tools and supplies and cleaning paintbrushes as well as cutting and preparing wood to build a staircase. It is such a joy to serve our neighbors together. If you missed out on this opportunity to serve, don't worry we have more Saturdays planned! 2011 Year in Review

In preparation for writing this post, I asked the students and leaders what their most memorable or meaningful experience with youth group was in 2011. Among the top answers were Laurelville, Logan the Senior High mission trip, and Camp Ligonier, as well as special events such as lock ins, parties, night on the town and weekly events like bible studies. There were a lot of fun times throughout the year and we were blessed by many times of growth and fellowship.  However a few people answered with a response that I wasn't expecting but I think many of us feel and understand. It captures the heart of our Ministry and  gives us a little bit of the feeling that the early church community felt as well as a little taste of heaven as we serve and love together. Here are what a couple students said in answer to my question :

"Being able to see the whole entire youth group grow as a family in Christ."

"For me, I can't really give an exact event. Its more of a feeling. A feeling of family that will help and support in any way"

" Hearing 2 students newer to the program say they liked youth group because there they felt accepted for who they are- because everyone should have a place like that!"

It has been an incredible blessing and joy to serve with these students and a great honor to see them grow in their relationship with Jesus and somehow be used by God as part of that. We thank all of you for your continued support and prayers and we look forward to all that God has in store for us in 2012! Enjoy some pictures from some of our favorite times!
